Claim Spotify Artist Page and Create Your Account

October 20, 2021 • 4 min read
If you create a Spotify For Artists account you'll surely want to know how to pre-save an album on Spotify and how to use its other features and benefits. But you can only claim your Spotify For Artists account after you make your first release on the platform. Not necessarily after your music is actually online, though. It works a bit differently for those who already have music online on the platform (and don't have the profile) and those who want to claim their account before their music is online - which is useful for making a Pre-Save campaign for your first single and pitch it for curated playlists, for example.

If your music’s already online

In that case the process is pretty simple:
  1. Go to this Spotify page where you can claim your artist profile
  2. Log in with your general Spotify account, or sign up for a new one
  3. Provide your Spotify’s Artist URI and social media links for the verification process
  4. Once your request is complete, you’ll have access to your artist’s account and it’s benefits

If your music’s not online yet

In case you’ve just made your first release ever or the first release under a new artist name, you’ll be stuck when Spotify asks for your Spotify’s Artist URI. However, you do not have to wait until your music is online to get your Artist URI. We can provide you a Spotify Artist URI before your music is online. After you upload your release, go to My Releases in your Magroove account. Choose the release assigned to the Artist Name you want to claim on Spotify. Under the Stores tab, find the Spotify tab and open it, there you'll find the Artist URI you need after 1 week you uploaded your release with us. Once you have your Spotify Artist URI follow these simple steps:
  1. Go to this Spotify page where you can claim your artist profile
  2. Log in with your general Spotify account, or sign up for a new one
  3. Provide your Spotify’s Artist URI and social media links for the verification process
  4. After your request is complete, you’ll have access to your artist’s account and it's benefits
If you want to use the Pre-Save and playlist pitching features for your new release, there are other important things regarding the first steps of the uploading process you’ll have to make sure you get all right. First of all you'll have to set a future release date, and you must make sure you're using the right Spotify Artist URI code to get it all done correctly.

How to Get Your Spotify Artist URI code

  • If your release is not online yet you’ll have to wait for our moderation team to approve it. We automatically retrieve your Spotify Artist URI 1 week from the day you uploaded your release, if it was approved by our moderation team. You'll find the code in your Magroove account by going to My Releases, choosing the Artist Name you want the code for and then go Stores. Under Stores, find the Spotify tab and open it, there you'll find the Artist URI you need.
  • If your release is already online it’s pretty easy. Spotify URI codes are sharable links that lead directly to the Spotify application instead of going through the web page first, so you’ll find URI codes inside the application. Each shareable feature has a unique URI code for sharing a song, an album, a playlist or - what we want here - an artist profile URI code. So find your profile inside the Spotify app, click that three-dot button under your artist’s name, roll over to Share and you’ll find the option Copy Spotify URI. On the desktop version of the app, there is a little catch. You’ll do the same steps - three-dot button, Share - but you’ll find Copy link to artist - that’s not what you want. Keep your cursor over it and hold Alt/Cmmd key to change it to Copy Spotify URI and now you can get the code you want. Check the gif below and see how it happens:
Claim Spotify For Artists

Spotify For Artists allows you to

  • See your music and audience’s stats
  • Promote your music
  • Manage your artist’s profile
Those are the main reasons why you should claim your Spotify For Artists profile as soon as possible.  Managing your artist’s profile is also a great feature inside the Spotify For Artists account. With that you can update your image’s profile and edit your artist’s biography. You can also use Artist’s Pick, which will allow you to pin an album, single, EP or playlist to the top of your profile, share your tour dates and also add custom images for each featured item. Nowadays, artists have been looking forward to using the Pre-Save option and pitching their releases for Spotify’s curated playlists. Once you have your Spotify For Artists account all set up, you can start using those features to promote your music. After so much work put into making music, you probably want to work your way to get tons of streams and downloads. And that what Magroove is here to help you with.
